Major County Privacy Notice

This notice describes what Major County Released Inmates may collect, how that information is used, and the limited circumstances in which it may be shared. It also explains cookies, outside services, security, and individual choices. By continuing to use the site, a visitor accepts the practices described here.

Information You Choose to Send

Terms Entered in Search Tools

A name, county, or other term entered in a search box is transmitted to the outside provider that operates that tool. Major County Released Inmates does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.

Email and Contact Messages

If you email or send a contact message, we retain the message long enough to respond and handle the request. Its contents are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Technical Data Collected Automatically

Like most websites, the service can receive basic technical information when a page loads. That information may include:

  • The visitor’s internet protocol address.
  • The browser name and version.
  • The device category and operating system.
  • Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them.
  • The referring website, when supplied.
  • The date and time of the request.

Cookies and Browser Controls

Cookies help measure how visitors move through the site. A browser can refuse or delete them. Blocking cookies may cause some site or partner features to work differently.

Purposes for Using Data

Collected information is used only for operating, evaluating, and protecting the service. These uses include:

  • Maintaining speed and basic site function.
  • Sending a search request to the selected partner.
  • Understanding which resources visitors find useful.
  • Detecting and correcting technical faults.
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests.

Privacy on Linked Services

Links lead to resources such as the Major County Sheriff’s Records Division, the ODOC Offender Lookup, VINELink, other public release-record portals, and outside search tools. Once a visitor follows one of those links, the destination’s privacy notice and practices apply.

Some advertising providers may measure activity across more than one website to select ads. That activity occurs within the provider’s systems, not a Major County government database and not this site’s own search log.

Limited Sharing of Information

We do not sell personal information. Data may still be handled by a small set of service providers or authorities for the purposes described here:

  • Search partners that process a submitted query.
  • Analytics providers that measure use.
  • Advertising networks that deliver ads.
  • Law enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.

Reasonable Security Measures

Standard safeguards are used to reduce the risk of unauthorized access or loss. No internet-connected service can promise complete security, and this site cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.

Visitors Under Eighteen

This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may contact us and request deletion.

Choices About Personal Data

Depending on applicable law and the information actually held, a person may ask to:

  • Receive a copy of personal data kept by the site.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Delete information when a valid right applies.
  • Opt out of certain forms of processing.

Changes to This Notice

This privacy notice may be revised as the service or legal requirements change. A revised version will appear on this page with a new effective date.
